It snowed this past weekend and I was not ready. If there’s anything I hate, I hate being cold! I hate shivering, feeling my ice cold toes, and being miserable. I rather live in a hot location, where the coldest it gets is 50 degrees. Sadly, I live in Boston and it is freezing! Although, with the way climate change is going, I don’t know how bad this winter will be. I mean it was 65 degrees one day then a snowstorm the next. Anyways, I still want to be prepared and warm and so should you! I’m going to give you tips on how to layer your clothing during the winter!
- First layer– Underclothing
First things first, if you live in a cold climate, wearing just underwear and a bra is not going to cut it! I usually walk to the train station and when that cold hits you? Whew! You need to wear a thick undershirt or tank top and some stockings or leggings. I know some people who wear thermal underneath their clothes. We’re about to hit flu season and you don’t want to catch that during this time.
- Second layer – Shirt, Turtleneck, ect
For this outfit, I wore a dress because we should still be allowed to wear dresses and skirts in negative degree weather– properly. I decided to put my turtleneck underneath my dress to keep me warm but also to make it look cuter.
- Third Layer – Top or Dress
I went with a Jean dress, that looks good in the winter and is long enough to keep me warm.
- Fourth Layer – Bottoms
If you’re not going to wear a dress, you gotta wear some pants or a skirt. I love colored pants, especially in the winter.
- Fifth Layer – Sweater or Cardigan
Adding a sweater is going to make you extra warm during the cold, especially when you take off your jacket. I used to hate that uh high school, they’d make us put our jackets in our lockers and freeze. So. I always made sure I had a sweater.
- Sixth Layer – Socks
If you’re wearing a dress or a skirt, wearing knee high socks is perfect! It looks cute and it’s warm.
- Seventh Layer – Shoes
Obviously you’re going to need to wear shoes. In the winter, I like to wear boots because they’re warmer and keep you comfortable. Like I said before, I normally walk to the train so, having boots is a necessity.
- Eighth Layer – Hat and Scarf
A hat and a scarf is necessary if you don’t want to catch a cold! My go to look in the winter is a snuggle beanie, huge scarf, and my beats headphones to cover my ears and block out the noise.
- Ninth Layer – Jacket
Lastly, a jacket! If you live in cold areas of the world, where it frequently snows, you need a nice, long, warm jacket. My jacket is from Amazon and I love this thing. It is super warm, long, and keeps my entire body protected.
