Times are a little rough for a lot of people right now. The unemployment rate is high and many are living off their savings. Even though this season is meant to be amazing, it can be stressful for many. So, I wanted to share 9 ways you can save money on Christmas gifts for those who are on a budget but still want to buy their loved ones a small gift!
- Make A Budget List
The first thing you should do is make a budgeting list. On this list, you can write down the names of each person you want to get a gift for and how much you’re willing to spend on them. You can also have a set spending number that you can’t go over and that’ll help you keep track of everything.
Also, keep track of how much you’re spending by using your notes app or other productivity apps.
Cash app is the app that you use to send and receive money from others. If you didn’t know, they have a debit card that you can use to purchase anything a Visa can purchase. The best parts of this card is that you add how much money you want on the card at a time and they have boosts.
Being able to add a certain amount of money allows you to be mindful and easily track your spending. The boosts are like coupon deals that give a certain percentage off multiple locations. There may be one for CVS, Walgreens, Dunkins, grocery stores and so forth. I literally save up to $10 when I use this card.
- Use Groupon
Groupon is a great site that offers a multitude of deals. It has deals on vacation deals, tech, clothing, spa days and so much more. You can get so many gifts on this site for a reasonable price.
- Search for Promo Codes
Promo codes come in clutch! You can google promo codes for almost anything and you’ll find some. Promo codes are percentage off codes that you can add to your payment. There are browser extensions like Honey that you can use that’ll add codes for you.
- Get Email Alerts for Store Deals
Subscribing to stores is a great idea because it allows you to be in the loop with whatever it is they’re doing or planning. Stores always have deals going on and during the holiday season, they have email deals going out frequently. Go online to a store you like and join their mailing list. Most stores will give you a discount code for just entering your email!
- DIY Gifts
DIY-ing is such a fun activity and sometimes, most people want a thoughtful handcrafted gift. Don’t feel ashamed, search for something nice and interesting online and get crafty! Pinterest is your best friend.
- Do A Christmas Activity Like Yankee Swap or Secret Santa
Yankee swaps and secret santa are the best money saving activities because you normally set a budget and only buy a gift for one person. This is great for families and friend groups. You can set the budget to only $20 and buy a ton of small items that your person will love.
- Check Out Discount Department Stores
Marshalls, TJX, or the Dollar Store have great items that are
- Buy Used or Refurbished
Buying used items is always a hit or miss so be careful and pay attention and shop at known stores. Stores like Best Buy or Walmart sell used items that someone returned for way cheaper than the normal price. Or you could go onto Facebook marketplace and get a used item. Always inquire and ask questions though!
That’s it for this post! I hope you enjoyed it. Have you started Christmas shopping?
