7 Ways To Easily Transition To An Eco-Friendly Lifestyle

7 Ways To Easily Transition To An Eco-Friendly Lifestyle

When we first went on lockdown, reports started to come in about the earth being much more cleaner and the air being less polluted. Now, with restrictions lifted, the earth is destroyed again. I saw a Facebook post of a man holding up a stick of masks that he fished out of the ocean. How sad is that? Why can’t we treat the earth with respect? I wanted to share 7 ways to easily transition to an eco-friendly lifestyle because if everyone practiced living zero waste, we’d be in a much better environment.

  1. Reusable items

This is number one because it is the most important and the easiest. You can easily choose to buy reusable items such as water bottles, straws, cutlery, lunch bags, tote bags, period products etc. By doing so, you’re helping to reduce plastic usage and keep dirt from being in the ocean and affecting sea animals.

I carry my stainless steel water bottle everywhere I go as well as use a straw and pack my own lunch when I’m going to work. This is something I recommend everyone to do because it is so simple and easy to not use plastic.

  1. Bamboo

As I’m currently creating my wedding registry, I’ve been looking into adding bamboo made items. Bamboo is great for the environment, it is recyclable and easy to get rid of,  and it also has health benefits. You can get bamboo dishes, toothbrushes, and hair items just to name a few.

  1. Beeswax

You can use beeswax and reusable cloth sandwich bags to store your food. This is better for the environment because the key is to reduce plastic. By using these, you don’t have to use plastic wraps.

  1. Compost

Composting is the art of decomposing your waste (i.e. fruit and vegetable peelings) and then putting it into the ground. This is great because it is basically giving nature back to the earth. You can read more about composting here!

  1. Use glass and stainless steel

Switching out your plastic items for glass and stainless steel items are easier than you think. There are plenty of places like grocery stores where you can bring your own bottles and fill them up with juices or cleaning products. There are also services where you can switch out your products. This reduces the amount of plastic bottles and products in your home and leaves you with only the basics you currently need.

  1. Use natural products

I’ve always preferred to use and eat natural and organically made products because it is better for your personal health.

  1. Farmers markets & small business

Not only are there great benefits to shopping at farmers markets, (such as fresh foods and economic support) you also get to save money while giving money back to the community. Instead of going to a big chain grocery store, you will be doing your community justice.

People love to call me a hippie but, I just care about our earth and making sure that it will continue to be safe for future babies to come. That’s all for this post, I hope you enjoyed it!
