Itinerary Guide To My Week On The Cape

Itinerary Guide To My Week On The Cape

Last month, I spent my end of summer trip on the Cape and it was such a relaxing and enjoyable vacation– I can’t wait to do it again next summer. This trip was much needed because one, COVID has been stressful and two, it brought back a little bit of normalcy. We all thought summer was going to be canceled but (with precautions) it wasn’t and I’m thankful. So, I wanted to share my itinerary guide to my week on the Cape so you can prepare your itinerary for next summer!

How To Get There / How To Get Around

If you’re not a New Englander, and you’re traveling to the Cape from out of town, you’re going to need a car. The best and easiest way of getting around the Cape is driving. They have buses but it can be a little hard to navigate. I’d recommend flying into Boston and either renting a car and doing a little three-hour road trip or, you could take the ferry from Boston then rent a car on the Cape.

Where To Stay

We stayed from September 3rd to the 10th, at the Kalmar Village; which is about 15 minutes from Provincetown.

Kalmar Village is such a cute little village, with replica cabins, a huge pool, and direct access to a beach. The entire aesthetic of it was nice and felt like you were truly living in a village community. The other guests were friendly and were always sat outside, grilling, and watching the kids play.

The beach was a 3-minute walk and during sunset, it was gorgeous. You definitely have to watch the sunset at least once when you’re there. Also, the low tide is crazy! The water pushes so far back, I swear you could walk across the ocean.

Where To Eat

Our first day there, we ate here for breakfast. It is a very popular spot and the food was pretty good. I’d give it a 4/5.

Sweet Escape is a restaurant but also an ice cream and coffee shop. This was a cute little spot with amazing ice cream and as I always say, vacation means a ton of ice cream. I’d give it a 4.5/5.

Spiritus is a popular – always packed – pizza shop with some pretty good pizza. Not only are the pizzas good but the drinks are great too. They have amazing house brand smoothies. The outdoor part of the restaurant is also very “vibe-y” with string lights and beautiful plants. I’d give it a 4/5 for the pizza and 5/5 for the aesthetics.

You’ve probably heard of Lobster Pot since its one of the most popular restaurants in the town. The dinner was okay, I had the calamari pasta but the drinks, those were great! I do think its a little over-hyped though. I’d give it a 4/5.

The cabins at Kalmar also have full kitchens so you’re able to cook you’re own meals. Some nights, we stayed in and made our own dinners like tacos and then roasted marshmallows and made s’mores on the grill!

What To Do

  • Whale Watching

I love water (water sign) and I love boat rides and animals. The boat ride was so calming, I was falling asleep but once things finally started picking up, it was amazing. We saw about four different whales and two of them did some synchronizing activities.

  • Walk Through P-Town

Provincetown is a fun, colorful, and amazing town– I love it. When it is warm, it’s also good to take a stroll. While we were there, there was a BLM protest happening and I was almost moved to tears. An older black activist was marching alongside the younger ones and it was a beautiful moment (sad that she’s still fighting for this though.)

  • Go To The Dispensary

Hey man, I say check it out (obviously if you’re an adult of course) and you never know, you may like it.

  • Go To The Souvenir Shops

Yes, they sell overpriced t-shirts but, they also sell a lot of random things as well. I loved going into them because each one was so different than the last.

  • Go To The Bookshops

I love bookstores! You can find great books, records, posters, and much more. These stores range from newer books to used and free books. You can find a lot of amazing books and they’re super inclusive.

  • Go To The Random Mural

Okay, I don’t know the name but its downtown and its a mural of random, weird but cool artwork with dragons.

I love a good flea market and this one was up to par! I got some Prince and Michael Jackson records got some limited edition black panther comics (RIP Chadwick), and just saw some pretty, cool items.

  • Wellfleet Drive in Theater

When the flea market isn’t happening, they turn it into a drive-in, where they play classic films! We saw a double feature; Mean Girls (one of my favorites) and Clueless.

  • Go To The Beach

We went to Marconi Beach; a very popular beach on the Cape. It was nice however, the waves were insane and I didn’t get in the water because I didn’t want to die. But, there are a ton of other beaches and you must swim when you’re on the Cape!
