How To Enjoy Halloween During Covid

How To Enjoy Halloween During Covid

In March, we were told that Covid-19 would be gone by August. As time went along, we knew that wasn’t true, and with the way things are going, we don’t know when this pandemic will be truly over. Throughout the years, we all look forward to the holidays and this year especially. Halloween is my favorite holiday, I love dressing up and passing out candy but, sadly, we won’t be able to do the normal festivities. However, that is not the end of the world and I have come up with a list of how to enjoy Halloween during Covid because we deserve some normalcy!

  1. Movie Night

Holiday movies are always the best and Halloween ones are my favorite! For the last few years, Christian and I would dress up, pass out candy, and then watch a movie to end the night.

Instead of a regular movie night, go all out (especially if you have kids!) Print out cool movie tickets, get popcorn buckets, layout classic movie options, make a cozy fort, and just have a great candy-filled night! This will make your family and friends feel warm inside.

  1. Party with Family

Sadly, we can’t have any parties but, that doesn’t mean you can’t play music and dance with your family. Socially distanced if needed. If you’re with your family or roommates, play a fun playlist, put on your costumes, and have a good time. It’s always fun to get up and dance!

  1. Scavenger Hunt

I love scavenger hunts and you could make this fun for all ages. I actually saw one on Pinterest, where a family made an at-home haunted house, where you had to locate candy in different locations. I think that will be super fun for the kids!

If you want to make it more adult-friendly, add some drinks and make it more of an adventure that’s possibly scarier.

  1. Game Night & Arts & Crafts

Another activity that’s perfect for all ages. Print out some coloring pages, buy some game boards, or get game ideas online. Playing games is always fun and distracting! I swear when lockdown first commenced, we played Go Fish and UNO every night.

Another idea, tell ghost and scary stories! Make it a contest to see who could tell the best story and the winner gets a bucket full of candy.

  1. Set Up At Home Trick or Treating Experience

Since trick or treating has been canceled, I would suggest having the adults in the family set up different candy stations where the children can hop from. At least this way, they’ll still be able to fill their baskets with candy and feel in the spirit. It’s so sad that kids can’t go out and enjoy the night but at least they can do something fun at home.

If you plan on doing any of these, leave a comment! I think these will be great to feel in the spirit!
