8 Steps For Choosing Your Perfect Wedding Dress

8 Steps For Choosing Your Perfect Wedding Dress

When it comes to your wedding, you want everything to be perfect. The decor, the aesthetic, the looks, and most importantly your dress! I mean, let’s face it, everyone wants to see what the bride is wearing. It’s called the “bride’s day” for a reason. So, obviously, you want to make sure that you choose a dress that you feel amazing, comfortable, and beautiful in! These 8 steps for choosing your perfect wedding dress are the steps that I used and found to work perfectly for me!

Choosing your perfect wedding dress is very important because it’s your wedding! It is your day and you want to shine. If there’s one day where I can be treated like royalty, I want to also look the part! Finding my dress was fairly easy because my style is very similar across the board. I like boho, dreamy, a nice vibe and aesthetic and I wanted my dress to represent that. Like many girls, I’ve had a Pinterest board with a ton of different wedding dresses for years which made these steps and the process quick.

  1. Know Your Wedding Theme

Having a wedding theme makes the entire planning process much easier. Our wedding is going to be an outdoor, boho style, on a lake – then in a tent – event! I’m a very earthy person, so I wanted the theme to emulate that. So, I researched and looked up boho, dreamy, styled dresses, boutiques, and brands! The type of theme you’re having will help single out what style of dress you want.

  1. Set A Budget For Bridal Accessories

As we all know, you put out a lot of money when it comes to weddings so, it is important that you have a budget listed out for every section. That means stationary, clothing, venue and so forth. During wedding planning, you have a ton of payments, so you need to stay on top of it and make sure you have enough money set aside for everything you’ll be buying.Setting a budget for your bridal attire will help you when searching because you’ll know how much to spend on your dress and know what you can afford.

  1. Have An Ideal Style / Make A Moodboard

Moodboards are my favorite thing to make! I love making them for anything– decor, clothing, inspiration, you get it. You should definitely have a wedding moodboard because it will be your go to for all of the ideas and things you want your wedding to have. Before going to a wedding boutique, print out a few pictures of dresses, fabrics, designs and piece it together on a little board. This will help your bridal consultant find the perfect options for you.

  1. Have A Specific Dress Picked Out

If you want to take it a step further, (like me) have a specific dress already in mind! I had a dress that I had been eyeing for a while and prior to my boutique meeting, I shared the dress with my consultant. During our meeting, she pulled the dress plus 10 others that looked similar. Because of that, it honestly only took me an hour to decide on my gown and I love it!

  1. Go To A Great Boutique

My consultant at Alexandria’s was amazing! She was sweet, funny,  helpful, comfortable, she listened, and made sure to remind me that this was for my wedding. Having great customer service is always appreciated because it makes you, as the customer, feel great. Go somewhere that is recommended, has great reviews, and staff members who want to make you feel special.

  1. Go With Important People

Don’t just take anybody! Take people closest and dearest to you and those who have your best interest in heart, are opinionated, stylish, and most importantly know you. I went back in January and as we all know, we are still in a pandemic so, I could only bring 5 other people along and I chose my mother, sister, mother in law, and two best friends. That was perfect for me and they gave great input.

  1. Be Open

“Don’t knock it too you try it” is a quote we should always listen to. I understand that we all have our own styles and think certain things don’t look good on us but, you never know! Be open to trying some other dresses and styles that your consultant suggests because you never know, it could be the one!

  1. Trust Your Gut

Trust your gut and your gut only! If you think that the dress you’re wearing is it, it’s it! Don’t let anyone else sway your decision. This is your day and you deserve to look how you want! If you don’t like something, voice that.
