5+ At Home Workout Tips

Before the pandemic, I’ve always loved working out at home. Don’t get me wrong, I love running on treadmills and using bikes at the gym, but I love the freedom of working out in the comfort of my living room. I can wear what I want, go at my own pace, and easily watch workout videos. So, I’ve found the perfect ways to workout at home and here are 5+ at home workout tips.

  1. Get Equipment

My first tip is to get equipment! Now, you don’t need anything crazy like big, expensive machines but, having some resistance bands, dumbbells and other weights is great. A lot of workouts that you may watch online require bands or dumbbells, so it’s good to have those laying around. Also, other items such as waist trainers, wrist weights, gloves can help you out when doing more intense workouts.

  1. Watch Youtube Fitness Gurus

I know a lot of people always feel like they can’t work out at home because they don’t know what to do but there are a ton of fitness Youtube channels and apps out there to help! I love watching MadFit and Chloe Ting and they do some great, intense workouts! Chloe a little too intense for me sometimes but they cover a range of workouts that you can easily do at home with or without equipment.

  1. Create A Workout Space

As I always say, you always need a specific space for certain activities! I have a section in my living room; where my yoga mat is laid out and my equipment is next to it. This is perfect because it’s visible and reminds me to workout but also, it’s my specific spot. I don’t have to worry about moving things around, setting things up or cleaning.

  1. Get Workout Specific Clothing

When you’re at home, you always want to lounge and take the easy way out (or maybe that’s just me.) So, what has helped me in this area is putting on a full out workout fit– leggings, sports bra, sneakers, waist trainer– because it makes me feel ready and in the mood. If you put on an old shirt and some sweatpants, you’ll feel ‘meh.’ From my own experience, dressing up or dressing the part definitely makes me feel good.

  1. Use Pinterest

Like Youtube, Pinterest also has a ton of workout content that you can use. There are articles, charts, photos with workouts, tips, meal options and so much more. I use Pinterest mostly for workout lists and post-workout meals. Making sure you get protein and eat the proper healthy meal is important.

  1. Create A Good Workout Playlist

Music is the answer to the soul. I love music and it definitely changes whatever mood I am in. If you want to feel motivated and get your workout done, make (or find) a perfect playlist. Spotify has a ton of great curated workout playlists made by Spotify themselves or celebrities. I like using The Rock’s playlist— it has a ton of different genres and songs that get me pumped up.

  1. Create A Schedule

Lastly, create a schedule of when you’ll workout. If you have a schedule, it’ll remind you and force you to get up. I’ve made going for a morning walk a routine so now, I’ve gotten used to waking up and just heading out. Without a schedule, I’d fight the urge to exercise.

Okay, I hope you all get up to working out this year and find the perfect ways to do it from the comfort of your own home! What’re your workout tips?
