Handmade gifts aren’t cheap, it actually shows that you cared enough to put a lot of thought into this gift. You can find a ton of DIY gift ideas on Pinterest that is easy and fun to make. You can knit a blanket, clothing, create furniture, paint a picture and so much more! My sister made me a pressed photo of myself a few years ago and I still have it hanging up on my wall.

  1. Shop Local & Buy A Long A Lasting Gift

During this year, we’ve learned that supporting local businesses is super important because they have been created by our neighbors, family, and friends! They need our support and honestly, their products are amazing! They’re personally crafted and made with precision, care, and love.

Using a fake or artificial tree is easier but it’s actually not so helpful for the environment. The best thing to do would be to rent a real tree, that you can use for a specific time period then return it so it doesn’t hurt the earth. Or, you could use an alternative tree method like using a large house plant. Down in Florida, some people use palm trees!

  1. Use Fabric Wrapping or Recycled Paper

Wrapping paper is extremely wasteful, especially on Christmas when we just rip through them and dump them in the trash. The better thing to do is to use fabric wrapping that you can reuse every year or recycled paper that won’t hurt the environment when thrown away.

  1. DIY Decor

This is actually something I think is fun! Knitting or crocheting stockings, garland, crafting ornaments– I think you could have a ball with creating your own decoration. On top of that, it could be a great bonding activity to do with your family or it could start a tradition every year. Or, you could pass down the items through generations.

  1. Use Plant Based Items

There are a ton of plant based items like glitter, string, and other crafting items. A lot of products nowadays are vegan and organic.
